The whole of Tokyo is occupied by the MU. Surrounding Tokyo there's an almost impenetrable sphere looking like Jupiter, and the MU tell the inhabitants, that the rest of the world is destroyed. Everybody's happily living along. Outside of Tokyo the assembled rest of the world desperately tries to take action against the MU. An agent succeeds in leading young Ayato Kamina out of the city, and together with him a mysterious giant robot called RahXephon. For the first time, humanity has a competitive weapon including a pilot at its command, but there are most interesting personal concerns and entanglements on both sides ...
