When humans die, their soul and memories crystallize into stone. By touching such stones the lifes of the deceased can be read like books. From ancient times Bantorra Library collects and manages the books of the dead, so-called "Armed Librarians" using special abilities defend the library against desires from the outside and not the least themselves inside, as gaining access to older parts of the library means fighting off more or less dangerous monsters. Desires from the outside are being pursued by an organization masked as a church. Their fight against the regulatory force actually struggling with internal conflicts between idealists and pragmatists gets disturbed by a certain impossibility, surprising all sides: Via her book an insurgent executed in the past seems to purposefully direct the actions of a man in the present. Interesting ... but then for something completely different, and something different, and something different ... Based on a nice idea for the matter of passing the series starts to build up one story approach after the other, only to unmotivatedly abandon most of them soon after. Towards the second half Tatakau Shisho pulls itself together to some degree, but potential put to good use it isn't. The designs and the general sense for naming adapt to that and don't impress much, the rest of the presentation is routine. A missed chance.
