Japan, the late Mid Ages once again. Twelve legendary swords with a special influence on their owners' capabilities are scattered throughout the country. Before this or that sword-bearer possibly causes trouble for the Shogunate, the swords shall be confiscated, resistance is to be expected. The job is taken by a young, seemingly unsuitable strategistess, but she is counting in competent assistance, namely the banned-to-a-lone-island offspring of the man who introduced the ultimate swordsmanship, the one which does not need a sword. Impossible? Well possible, and the young man in question is in fact willing to help and proves quite up to the task, yet due to the previous isolation he has his difficulties with other people and the world overall. Can the collecting duo overcome the owners of the swords, an as rivaling as freaky ninja clan and a potpourri of everyday hindrances?
Katanagatari features interesting characters, fresh looks and luckily doesn't take itself too seriously. An excellent mix in excellent packaging.
